How Long Does a Transcription Take?
Typical processing times by audio length and by engine, how the plan-priority queue works, and what to do if it takes too long.
An audio file up to 5 minutes is usually ready in about half a minute on the Premium engine; recordings of 1 hour or more take a few minutes. The estimate shown on screen is calculated from actual times over the last 30 days in your region — not a guess.
Typical times (ceiling for the vast majority of cases)

These values represent the typical worst case (95% of transcriptions finish within them). On average, it's faster.
You can close the tab during processing — everything happens on the server and the transcription appears in your library when it's done. The exception is the Nano engine, which runs in your browser and needs the tab to stay open.
What influences the time
- Audio length — the main factor, as shown in the table.
- Chosen engine — Premium is the fastest; Standard and Ultra take a bit longer.
- Queue and plan priority — during peak times, jobs go into a queue. Free accounts have low priority; Lite and Advanced, normal; Pro, Premium, and Enterprise, high. No one gets stuck: normal-priority jobs are automatically promoted after a wait time.
- Giant files — when the file needs to be split, the chunks run in parallel (up to 3 at a time); splitting and merging adds some time. See Long files.
Taking longer than usual?
- Up to ~10 minutes in "processing": normal for long files or peak times. Wait.
- Stuck for more than 10 minutes: the stuck-job detector automatically converts the job into a retry — you don't need to re-submit. See Automatic retries.

Re-submitting the same file while the first one is still processing doesn't speed anything up — it just creates a duplicate job (and, once completed, a duplicate charge of cycles).
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to transcribe 1 hour of audio?
On Premium, typically up to ~3 minutes (for the 30–60 min range) and up to ~5 minutes for more than 1 hour. On Standard or Ultra, up to ~10 minutes.
Do paid plans skip the queue?
Pro, Premium, and Enterprise plans have high priority in the queue. But there's an automatic promotion mechanism that ensures no one waits indefinitely.
Is the estimate shown on screen reliable?
Yes — it's calculated from actual processing times over the last 30 days in your region, by engine and by length range.
My transcription has been 'in queue' for a few minutes — is that normal?
Yes, especially during peak times. Jobs stuck for more than 10 minutes are detected and reprocessed automatically.
