Audio in Another Language or with Multiple Languages
How to transcribe audio in other languages, use automatic detection, and translate the finished transcript to more than 100 languages.
The platform transcribes in more than 160 languages and variants, with automatic detection when you don't know (or don't want to set) the language. For audio that mixes languages, there are strategies that avoid confusing results — and, once transcribed, the text can be translated into more than 100 languages.
Choosing the language when uploading
You have two options when uploading a file:
- Set the language — the safest choice when you know what language the audio is in. Brazilian and European Portuguese appear at the top of the list.
- Automatic detection ("auto") — the AI identifies the audio language on its own. Useful for files from varied sources or when you don't recognize the language.
Each transcription works with one main language. If your audio switches strongly between two languages (for example, an interview half in Portuguese, half in English), the most reliable result comes from splitting the file by language stretch and transcribing each part with the language set.
Occasional phrases in another language
Occasional foreign words and expressions (product names, technical terms in English) within an audio mostly in Portuguese usually come out well on the Premium engine — and you can reinforce them with key terms. See Custom vocabulary.
Translating the finished transcript
After transcribing, you can translate the full text into another language without retranscribing:
- Available for more than 100 languages;
- The result is saved per language — translating again to the same language is instant;
- Available on the Professional and Premium plans (100 translations/month) and unlimited on the Enterprise plan.

Language of AI features
Automatic title, summary, and minutes come out in the language of your interface, regardless of the audio language. If you use the site in Portuguese, an audio in English generates a summary in Portuguese.
Noise and strong accents interfere with automatic language detection. If the audio is difficult and you know the language, set it manually — it's the most common cause of "nonsense" transcription. See Audio with noise.
