Is the Site Down? Status, Maintenance, and What to Do

How to know if VoxScriber is undergoing maintenance, what happens to in-progress transcriptions during outages, and why you never lose cycles when something fails.

If VoxScriber seems down, this article explains how to confirm whether the problem is on our side, what happens to what you've already submitted, and what to do in the meantime.

Where do I see if it's maintenance?

We don't currently maintain a public status/uptime page. Notices appear on the platform itself:

  • Automatic maintenance page: when our monitoring detects consecutive database failures, the entire site displays a maintenance page—and returns to normal on its own once the system recovers. If you see this page, the problem is on our side and we're already aware.
  • Automatic emails: if one of your transcriptions is affected, you're notified by email about the retries and the outcome (see below).

If the site simply doesn't load (without a maintenance page), it's worth testing your connection and reloading—total unavailability without the maintenance page is rare.

What happens to my transcriptions during an outage?

You don't need to resubmit anything. Temporary failures enter the automatic retry system:

  • There are up to 3 immediate retries and 5 more scheduled, with increasing waits of 5 min → 30 min → 2 h → 6 h → 24 h.
  • Your file stays preserved for 7 days while a retry is pending.
  • From the 3rd attempt on, you receive a progress email; on success, a "ready" email; if all fail, an email explaining the error with a link to support.

During the outage, the screen may show messages like "The transcription service is temporarily unavailable. We'll try again soon."—that's expected behavior, not a loss.

You never pay for a transcription that failed: cycles are only debited after the transcription completes successfully. Billing and delivery happen together.

Interrupted uploads

If your connection drops in the middle of a large upload, there's no need to start over: multipart upload resumes from the last completed chunk when you try again with the same file.

The problem persists?

1

Reload and try again

Short outages resolve themselves—including your transcriptions, through automatic retries.
2

Check your email

If something of yours failed, automatic notices arrive there.
3

Open a ticket

If the strange behavior persists, open a ticket describing the time and what you tried. Urgent issues can be marked with high priority.

FAQ

Do you have a public status page?

Not yet. The reliable indicator is the platform's own automatic maintenance page, plus emails about affected transcriptions.

My transcription failed during the outage. Did I lose cycles?

No. Cycles are only debited when the transcription completes successfully. A failure does not generate a charge.

Do I need to resubmit the audio that was processing?

No. The system retries on its own (up to 8 attempts over ~24 h) and the file is kept for 7 days for that purpose.

Does the maintenance page go away on its own?

Yes—it is activated and deactivated automatically by monitoring. When the system recovers, the site comes back without any action on your part.
